HELP & SUPPORT

What can I help you with?

Spouses, partners, and family are often "forgotten" or feel completely neglected during a loved one's exploration of gender identity.

Perhaps you saw it coming, or the direct opposite and had no idea whatsoever and feel betrayed, lost, as if your life has been turned completely upside down.

What if it's your child, is this the right decision for them? Do they really know what they're doing? How can they know? However old they are you are still their parent, you worry and want the best for them.

COMMON QUESTIONS & PROBLEMS I CAN HELP WITH

  • Clarity

    • They are too young/old

      • How can they possibly know at such a young age? Why now after all this time, what about me, what happens now?

    • I don't know what I want or how I feel and I'm not sure what to do.

      • Exploring gender identity is complex and can cause great anxiety, talking to someone who understands really helps.

    • I can't see a way forward and feel stuck

      • Sometimes we don't know where to start and need a bit of support and guidance

  • Confidence

    • Passing - Is everyone going to stare, what will the neighbours say?

      • Constantly worrying what others will say about your loved one can seriously affect your quality of life. I can work through this with you to build confidence and enable you to walk down the street with your head held high.

    • Using gendered toilets & facilities

      • One of the biggest fears for a trans person is taking that first step into a gendered space in their acquired gender. Confidence is a critical part of this process. This may be a terribly worrying time for you too.

    • Leaving the house

      • Leaving the safety of your own home when a loved one is experimenting with different clothing or gender presentation is a big deal. Even parents or allies of trans people can feel self-conscious and benefit from coaching support.

  • Support

    • Coming Out

      • My loved one has just told me they think they are trans, I don't know what to do.

      • I don't want this to be happening, how do I stop this, what can I do?

      • I'm not sure our relationship can survive this

      • No-one understands what I'm going through, family and friends have no idea what this is like

  • What else can coaching help me with?

    • Making decisions that are right for you

    • Making sure you are not overlooked and your feelings ignored

    • Coping strategies & Personal safety

    • Bullying at school or in the workplace, verbal & physical abuse, anxiety

    • Isolation

    • Mental health

    • Having your own space to talk where someone will listen without judgment
